Cattle Identification Database (CID)

Simply put, the Cattle Identification Database (CID) records the breed composition and available performance data for cattle of any breed or combination of breeds, providing dairy producers a means to record, monitor, and evaluate multi-breed animals.

The CID certificate combines information found on a traditional registration certificate with the performance information of a pedigree.

On the CID certificate you will find the
following information:

  • Animal's name and herd management number
  • Official identification number
  • All known breed composition of the animal (instead of %RHA)
  • Ownership information
  • Three-generation lineage information
  • Available performance information, including 305-day lactation records, classification scores, and indexes

All animals must be identified using Holstein Association USA Tag ID rules, using two Official Holstein tags.

Offspring of CID animals that would qualify as 87% RHA are eligible for registration by Holstein Association USA, Inc.
