To recognize significant accomplishments of young Registered Holstein® breeders. |

To recognize young Registered Holstein breeders for their commitment to preserving the dairy industry and for achieving excellence in their daily lives. |

To motivate other dairy producers to achieve similar goals by creating awareness of the successes young breeders have with Registered Holsteins. |

Applicant(s) can nominate themselves, or be nominated.
|
| |
|
The nominee(s) must be between the ages of 21 and 40 (as of January 1 of the award year) and must be a member of the Holstein Association USA, Inc. Applicants applying as a couple or as business partners must all meet the age requirements. Herd ownership and/or management responsibility are required, and the herd they manage must be on DHIA test.

The Distinguished Leadership Award is bestowed annually upon an individual who has provided outstanding and unselfish leadership and thereby has made a notable contribution to the Holstein Association and/or the dairy industry. This is a unique award, as the recipient does not necessarily have to be a member of Holstein Association USA, Inc.
Each nomination will be considered for three years. After this period, a new nomination must be submitted if the candidate is to be considered.
An anonymous selection committee will review all applications submitted. Upon selection, the recipient of the Distinguished Leadership Award will be notified, and the award will be presented at the National Holstein Convention. A copy of their plaque will also be hung on the Wall of Fame in the Holstein Association USA headquarters. |

The Elite Breeder Award is bestowed annually upon a living Holstein Association USA, Inc. member, family, partnership, or corporation who has bred outstanding animals and thereby made a notable contribution to the advancement of the Holstein breed in the United States. The Elite Breeder must have been a member of the Holstein Association USA, Inc. for a minimum of five years.
Each nomination will be considered for three years. After this period, a new nomination must be submitted if the candidate is to be considered.
An anonymous selection committee will review all applications submitted. Upon selection, the recipient of the Elite Breeder Award will be notified, and the award will be presented at the National Holstein Convention. A copy of their plaque will also be hung on the Wall of Fame in the Holstein Association USA headquarters.

This scholarship program was established to honor former Executive Secretary Robert H. Rumler by Holstein Association USA at the time of his retirement after 36 years of service. Beginning as Assistant Secretary, Rumler also served as Chairman and Executive Chairman of the Association. In retirement, he was granted the title of Chairman Emeritus of the Association.
Rumler believed that U.S. agribusiness, including production agriculture, needed and deserved the best trained, most highly qualified leaders that the nation's educational system and practical experience could provide. The establishment of this MBA scholarship for qualified individuals with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, preferably dairy, and recognizable traits of leadership, management intuitiveness and work experience, works hand-in-hand with Mr. Rumler's wish. |

Encourage deserving and qualified Holstein Association USA adult or junior members with an established interest in dairy and who have demonstrated leadership qualities and managerial abilities to pursue a Master's Degree in Business at a certified school issuing a Master's Degree in Business Administration. |

Emphasize to the U.S. agricultural community, and the dairy industry in particular, the great need for additional academic experience in business, management and finance to supplement previous undergraduate education in agricultural technology and practical experience "in the real world" to develop its future leaders. |

|
Demonstrate by example the value of such additional formal training through those individuals selected as scholarship recipients and their subsequent performance over time. |
|

|
A $3,000 scholarship is awarded annually to the successful recipient at the time of enrollment in an MBA program as a full time student. This may be either at the beginning of the program or as a second year student.
An anonymous selection committee will review all applications submitted. Upon selection, the recipient of the Rumler Scholarship will be notified. |
